Scott Roman

Scott Roman has been selected as the 2010 Teenager of the Year by the Kiwanis Club of Reisterstown, MD.

Scott, a 10th grader at Franklin High School, was selected from a field of nominees from the area’s high schools. Nominees were evaluated on their academic achievements, volunteer service, citizenship and leadership performance.

The award was presented to Mr. Roman by James Lichty, President of the Kiwanis Club. In making the presentation, Mr. Lichty, said, “We are proud to recognize Scott Roman as Teenager of the Year for his achievements, responsibility and leadership role in his school and the community. He exemplifies today’s young people striving for excellence in their own lives, as well as contributing to the betterment of their communities.” 

He is a member of the National Honor Society and on the Principal’s List, Athletic Distinguished Scholar and on the Honor Roll. Scott participates in many extra-curricular activities including being on the 2008-09 Varsity Golf Team and JV track and field teams, the Key Club where he held the position of Vice President, active member of the Class of 2012 Steering committee and the Model UN club, as well as on “It’s Academic.”. He also volunteers his time at the Irvine Nature Center, UNICEF and helps with Kiwanis Club service acts, such as baking cookies for the troops overseas. He even finds time for a part-time employment. He enjoys playing basketball, practicing Karate and working with his church youth group in his spare time. He is truly a well rounded young man.

After high school, Scott aspires to attend Harvard or MIT.
